Hi peeps,

I couldn't help myself, I really wanted to watch airplane yesterday and believe it or not, when I looked in the beginning the poll was going head to head with Jurassic Park! No worries, Jurassic Park will be my next recording! :)

I really liked Airplane, it was exactly what I needed on a chill night. I might have missed some references (about actors or English sayings) but definitely let me know!

Haha this was pretty funny and a great reaction! I just recently watched it. Mary, I'll explain one of the references... There used to be a commercial to sell instant coffee on TV and it goes like this, the couple are elsewhere maybe in a neighbor's house. They are offered a 2nd cup of coffee and the wife accepts it but she is very surprised that the husband is also having a 2nd cup! She has an inner monologue saying to herself (but the audience can also hear) "Jim never has a 2nd cup at home...??" It turns out it's the coffee! It's so much better at this their friend's house. Ah that must be it... lol. You must buy this instant coffee brand, it's so much better than yours. So anytime the wife pauses with a quizzical look and has an inner monologue that begins with "Jim never ...insert_action... at home?" It's a callback to this very memorable commercial about the inner life and tribulations of a suburban housewife. You know, back in the day when there were expectations on the role of a housewife including feeling a loss of self-worth when having selected the wrong brand of instant coffee. Hmm, it's a commentary on the stereotype roles of husband and wife and the commercialization of home making. LoL too much? XD

Okay wait, I have another reference explanation. I bet the name "Zip" was selected just for that speech at the end. I think it's a reference to a sports movie with a guy nicknamed The Gipper. I will assume that the speech is a reference, the music even turns sports like with that inspiring speech. Wait, the name was George Gipp... hahaha lol! "Win one for The Zipper!" now I get it even if I don't know the original reference.
