"Ambulance chaser" is slang for a personal injury lawyer. They're not thought very highly of in the US.

Jon Favreau has had quite the career. A producer is kind of the person who puts up the money or represents the person/company putting up the money for a movie. Since they are representing the money they have a heavy influence on what can and can not go in a film. A director is the person who, well, directs the actors when filming. The best movies are usually the ones where the writer, producer and director are the same person. Either that or the producers allow creative freedom. Favreau is one of those people who has their hand in everything and people are surprised when they see how much he has done. Another example would be Tarantino. People just see him as a director, and a good one at that, but if you look up what all he has been a part of you'd be surprised.

"D-girl" means "development girl" — it's an old fashioned disparaging term for people (of either sex) in the film industry who are employed in relatively low level positions with no real influence or authority. A lot of times their main job is to find interesting scripts or story ideas that haven't been bought yet.
