You will find there are quite a few episodes of The Sopranos that make you think about the topics covered in a specific episode. The show tackles some hard questions. Does AJ have ADD or is he just a teenage boy who needs to be out to run around. Shows fall into one of two categories for stories. The most common category being show which are mostly 'stand alone' episodes. Each episode has a self contained story with no broad theme to the story. Then you get shows like The Sopranos and The Wire were each episode has a story but there is a strong theme not only threw the season but threw the hole show. In this episode alone there were at least two or three call backs to previous episodes. In fact, you mentioned one of the call backs in your reaction.
