Regarding Stream Commissions (Patreon)

Hey All,

So as you know, I sometimes take stream commissions on picarto: https://picarto.tv/Kaddyshacks

Recently, I've been very busy, so I don't take time to do as many commissions as I'd like to . For the most part, it's a spur-of-the-moment thing, if I have free time. Naturally, when I do take and post commissions, I'll get people inquiring about availability and such. Sometimes they're pleasant about it. Many times they're not.

Two things I want to be very firm on, because I'm honestly quite tired of getting, for lack of a better term, guilt-tripped about this:


1) PRICES
My prices are cheap. There are plenty of artists in the fandom who charge more than I do, if not double, triple, etc. I try to keep my prices low because I just want to make these quick, fun commissions. Guilt-tripping me about my prices takes the fun out of it.

To be honest, I've been meaning to raise my prices for a while, so effective immediately, I'm raising my commission prices. Price listing is on my Picarto page linked above.

2) SCHEDULING
I live in the Pacific Northwest, so I'm on PST time. In the summer, I tend to stream at night, typically until midnight or so, because it's cool and I can work more easily. Sometimes I take a commission after finishing my usual work, to cap off the night.

Do not mock me about not having a 'normal sleeping schedule' because you might live on the East Coast or something. That's not gonna win you any favours, and will certainly make me blacklist you from further commissions.


3) TIME ZONES
I realize that this means that not everyone has a chance to get access to a commission stream because of these pesky things called time zones, particularly if you're in Europe/Asia/Oceania. I am therefore introducing a method for Non-North/South American residents to get considered for a commission outside of my normal hours.

What I'll do is once a month choose from this list at random and talk to the winner and arrange payment and pic info, and then stream the piece whether or not they're present for it.

I hope this clears things up, and people will stop grieving me about this. Again, these stream commissions are supposed to be quick, fun things. It takes a lot of the fun out of it when people are getting frustrated at me about prices or time zones.

My only question, regarding commissions is this: Is "Lactation" considered an "Extreme Fetish?" Just curious for future commission ideas.

Are you getting people complaining about $100 commissions that's literally nothing it's not that bad at all I've scene a furry artist charge people $900 for a commission and it's not even stand alone it's a group picture your prices for your call you at work is Dan below Market you could charge more only reason why I haven't been able to participate in more of your streams is because of goddamn adulthood being so expensive so you mark my words Kadath one day I'll have enough money to participate when you're streams and I will buy the s*** out of your art while it's still attainable

That off hours list is a great idea, and I'm sure people in Europe, Asia, and Oceania will love it. Hopefully you'll get some neat ideas from this new group!

I had people complaining about my $20 ipad sketches, even. Ironically the higher priced commissions tend to be, the more 'serious' customers tend to be, while the cheaper prices get people who will nitpick or complain. This isn't just my experiences but a similar phenomena many other artists have encountered too.

Hey Kadath, I am just curious about the timezone issue. I am est timezone so I can very rarely catch your stream, cause of work etc. This is fine, I love all your work and the stories you create, it really is a living breathing world. If I was able to be present at one of your streams and got picked to have a commision done, would I be able to give you the details, payment etc. then you could do it on the stream but I could log off and catch it the next day?

I do have a question about the off hours commission list. Does it reset every month? for example if you don't get picked one month do you need to resubmit for the next month or will the list of potential commissioners continue on one month from the next?

Certainly! Sometimes if a commission is too complex, I might even finish it the next day off-stream, or do two streams to work on it. I'm pretty flexible, as long as info and payment are taken care of efficiently.

Hm I should add a note about cooldowns. I would say if you get a commission taken, you have a one month cooldown. So if you get chosen, your entry will be removed from the list, and you'd have to reinstate it. You'd know b/c you'd get your commission taken, obvs.
