New Discord Server (Patreon)

TLDR: New Discord, Who Discord?

I spent the better part of last week researching and putting together my new personal discord server. I took some inspiration from other dedicated NSFW art servers to put together a place that hopefully is a good starting point for us. I'm very excited about it but also very anxious about the increased communication and moderation. So please bear with me and I hope all goes well.

Note: Until this morning Patreon and Discord integration was broken and glitchy so there may be other problems or unusual activity, so please keep that in mind.

Why a Discord server?

I have been holding back on how often I post to Patreon. I don't want people to be spammed by e-mails every time I post. I stopped posting WIPs, merged news in with images as notes and I stopped posting older artwork that had nowehere else to go.

I want to be able to update as often and freely as I want but also allow Patrons greater control over the kinds of notifications they want and when they want them. So Discord was a natural choice as they have settings for muting notifications for individual channels, @ mentions, or the whole server.

What are the benefits of using Discord for Patrons?

The first major change is that this month's reward pack link will be available at the start of the month on Discord. It will be updated with content as it is made available. No more waiting for time lapses, original sizes etc. Each tier will have a dedicated channel hosting the dropbox link that only their tier can see. I will also make posts in these channels to let people know when something has been added. Monthly rewards will still be sent by DM on Patreon after the 2nd of the following month as usual.

I will post up WIPs, sketches etc to the #sneakpeeks discord channel as soon as I am done with a drawing session.

There will be a Patron Studio for users to post their own artwork, or promote themselves. Gold and Platinum patrons currently have permission to post. However every patron can read it.

There will be 5 archives for old artwork. Most of this is a random collection of pre-patreon work and some of it is 10 years old. These archives are availble to Platinum patrons. The channels are SFW, NSFW, Furry, Sketch and Comic. All archives are read only.

I've also added 3 discussion channels. General, Memes and Guys Gone Wild.

General is the standard place to chat about whatever you like. Memes are inevitable so I added it early. XD. The Guys Gone Wild channel is for the discussion or posting of NSFW images, selfies etc.

There are also 3 voice channels. General and Dark Room are the voice versions of the General and Guys Gone Wild text channels.

Go Live Stream is a channel dedicated to livestreaming as I work on an illustration using discords new GoLive screensharing function. It is still in beta and has a 10 viewer limit and does not pick up audio from Macs. Because of this only Platinum patrons will have access to the streams until Discord removes the limit. Voice permissions are temporarily restricted until my 'new streamer anxiety' wears off.

Will anything on the main Patreon page change?

I will continue to do everything on the patreon site exactly the same as I have been doing recently. No additions or removals. Discord is not compulsory for those that do not wish to use it.

What if I am not interested in Discord? Or what if I want to leave the server?

It's perfectly understandable that some patrons may not use, like or be interested in trying discord. It's also perfectly reasonable to not be interested in my server for many other reasons. Feel free to use the server, ignore the server or leave the server. It's just my personal little space where I have a little bit more freedom to be me. It's not an obligation.

If no-one uses the server will you discontinue it?

It is my intention that this server is here to stay no matter what happens. If patrons are completely uninterested in it then I will add new areas to it and open it up to the public. This is my new pseudo-website.
