Doc Wottsit - Update 1 (Patreon)

The initial concept for Doc Wottsit was that of a Doctor Who parody with added NSFW elements. As you can imagine the Doc was a sexy alien with a human appearance, a quirky thirst for life and a belief that all life was beautiful in it’s own way. Doc was to have two companions. Doofer, a young robotic Ai responsible for the tech that let Doc slip between realities and move through time and Keon, a demi-sexual Samoan man from the first world Doc visited in the story. In their own ways his companions were mainly there to drive plot and react to Doc’s quirks.

Doc originally had a complicated and dark backstory with several recurring characters that was the root of his quirks and his odd ability to convert pain responses in his body into pleasure responses. It was also this dark origin for him that drove his desire of travelling through time and space fixing the problems caused by other adventurers and villains.

A conglomerate, that I refer only to as S-Power in my notes, had gotten hold of Doofer’s gateway tech and was using it for financial gain. Doc for various reasons felt responsible and was on a mission to set things right and put an end to S-Power. The concept was cliche and straightforward. Perfect for a nsfw parody story. Cheese is half the point after all.

However ideas can take on a life of their own and evolve. Doc has taken a turn that I truly love and I really hope that others like it as well. I consider it to be quite a modern take on a very tried and classic storytelling device.

The new direction is an idea that at first glance might make some people’s stomachs immediately start to churn but once you understand how it all fits together the fact that I have decided to reimagine Doc as a pan-dimensional instagram influencer it becomes less distasteful.

Doc Wottsit is a Swayer, his universe’s word for a social media influencer. Swayers use advanced tech exclusive to his Universe of origin to travel across realities, time and space. Swayers are officially licensed agents that travel across the multiverse. They scout new worlds, investigate new technologies, form alliances and trade agreements with new cultures but their primary job is to get the perfect selfie or videos of the rarest and most exotic locales in existence.

Everything they do they do for the likes, the followers, the sponsors and the perfect carefully curated images for their fan bases. Their accounts also have an ‘after dark mode’ that works like an adult premium hybrid of instagram and onlyfans. It is not unusual for a Swayer to seek out the hottest and sexiest worlds and encounters to increase their after dark following.

Doc is one of the 12 Cynosures, the 12 Swayers with the highest followings. They are celebrities in their own right and household names in their universe. His base is largely gay men between the ages of 18 and 38. He appeals to his base with sexy photo shoots, teasing videos, gaming livestreams, exotic erotic encounters on strange worlds, standing up to bigots and promoting mental and physical wellbeing.

Everything he does is part of his job and carefully crafted to appeal to his followers. He provides hope, inspiration and aspiration to his followers back in his home reality through fantastical images of unimaginable locations, creatures and peoples. He takes his job seriously and can be somewhat reckless when it comes to local laws if they stand in the way of getting the perfect selfie.

Doofer is Doc’s robotic companion and personal assistant. Doofer is responsible for capturing, editing and posting videos and images to Doc’s account. He is also the device that Doc uses to open gates to other places. Every Swayer comes with a standard issue version of Doofer. A Swayer’s first official act is traditionally to name and customise their Doofer live on air. Doc liked his Doofer just the way he was, and let him be who he was built to be, glitch’s and all.

Doc did not start out as a Swayer. He was originally an agent for a peacekeeping force that tracked down rogue individuals using dimension hopping tech without authorisation and fixing the issues that they caused. When a movie was to be made about the team and one of their most famous adventures, bodycam footage was released to the film studio. The movie was an unprecedented smash and soon actual bodycam footage was being hacked and broadcasted to the masses. Once the general population saw some of the wonders and excitement that was out there in the multiverse the agents became celebrities and received ever increasing directives on how to increase interest in their footage. It wasn’t long until ad revenue and holiday destinations became a dominating force in their culture. The most popular agents became known as Swayers, and the rest continued to police and scout the multiverse.
