This month we were celebrating Avengers: Endgame and the end of an era.

I was also doing an experiment. I was feeling like some of the SFW images I was doing for exposure and Instagram were preventing me from exploring certain poses, interactions and themes. I wanted to try to use this month to test that and gauge the situation properly.

Back when Instagram was shadowbanning and Tumblr stabbed us in the back, I decided to stop posting NSFW pictures online except on my Patreon. I restructured my tiers to be more accommodating. I decided to make SFW versions of ever picture as I hated overly censoring them, and I wanted to be able to post on Instagram. (The platform with my largest number of followers at the time) However I've felt increasingly shackled by the idea that I NEED to create these SFW versions every single time. In previous months The Cap, Stark and Thor pics just couldn't have happened.

I have enjoyed the freedom to draw what I like that the platinum bonus image gave me each month and I wanted that to carry over into the rest of pics. So in April I decided to go for it.

Here's what I discovered, when I spent a month not worrying about making Instagram/DA ready images.

Pros:

It was much easier to work on sexy poses and ideas without having to worry about how I would edit the picture later to post publicly online.

It took less time as I didn't need to work on costumes/ separates etc as much.

It was more fun.

Learned a lot about Exaggeration vs Reality. Realised what I want to be drawing.

Patrons seemed to enjoy the change.

Cons:

Overall less variants due to less costume pieces.

I had a little trouble with certain sexier poses as I am out of practice with them.

Cropping, and censoring images to post online still feels wrong.

Conclusion:

I'm going to stop worrying so much about what happens outside Patreon, and focus on working on the poses, outfits and themes that I want to draw and worry about the rest later. Trying to do NSFW and SFW at the same time, everytime, causes one or the other to suffer. I'll do the SFW versions if it's organic and natural feeling. Otherwise I'll just creatively censor or edit and hope my Instagram accounts etc dont get banned. :)

This was a FANTASTIC month, Blitz. You deserve a break, that's for sure. AS for your decisions -- it all makes a ton of sense to me. So much of mainstream social media doesn't actually want us as artists to have a presence through them, it seems. It can get so frustrating to try and share your art with your fans in such a censored way... I've always figured, balls to the wall first, then, if I can make a SFW version, great, if not, well... Seems a lot of us are doing like this since Tumblr and Instagram. Aaaaaall that to say, this Avengers pack is GLORIOUS and you should be very pleased with your pieces, my friend. And we all appreciate you and your art the way it's MEANT to be appreciated! Happy break! XOXO 😘

I can't believe i somehow missed this comment until today. I'm not sure how that happened. Thanks for your wishes. I wish I had seen them earlier. I completely agree. I think i let the tumblr debacle scare me and dictate how I do things. I may need to reevaluate things in the future. :) Thanks Patrick xoxo
