Conway Character Portrait - Arthur (Patreon)

Another month another new character portrait! Rounding out the last of the major characters at last we got Arthur "I've got about 30 seconds before losing consciousness when aroused" Hudson.
Horses...

It's weird for me to have characters with human-esque hair, never really am the biggest fan of the aesthetic but with a horse it makes sense I suppose. They do have their mane and so maybe it'd be a thing. If nothing else it brings in some variation as well.

He's gonna be a tough one to get right in the story. Just the separation in rank is gonna make closing down the distance a proper challenge, but we'll see how well I can make it work.

As always, take my ramblings with a grain of salt- I feel like the intensive labor of sailing, anywhere near the equator, is going to result in nudity, just out of necessity, so it may be easier to write in the use of these lewd sprites than you might think. My personal thoughts of the captain was that you follow his orders... no matter what they are, even if they include a summons to his cabin. Once there though thats where things really could logically go any number of directions. I could see someone in a position of such absolute authority might need to give up the reigns for a short bit, or given his position I could also see the need to never falter his role, even in private.

Yeah, I just try to stray away from too casual nudity even though it probably would have been present at least to some degree. But of course just writing what I find fun first and foremost, and yeah it's less so the actual nudity that's a problem, but just the MC and Arthur getting close in the first place. But I've got some plans on how to handle that breaking of the ice across rank lines. Plus it gives it a fun angle on it's own anyway given the power dynamic between them is so different compared to all the other characters.

Based on your description of blood distribution when Arthur is excited, it sounds like rank wont be the only hurdle to clear. Given the authority and means of punishment available to a captain, I would say their power dynamic is best represented as a cliff edge.

Hah, the reference to blood distribution was more just joking about here in the post. That'd be a weird thing to have to handle if it actually would be a problem represented in the character. A bit too weird for the game probably, so he'll just have magic horse energy which makes it work even if 50% of his blood is suddenly concentrated in non-vital parts.
