What is this? A commission?! We still do these?!

Made for gmRader of the character Juksusdi from the cartoon Inage'i, a children's animated show in cherokee language and about their culture and all that.
He's one of the three main characters in it, though of course younger in the show, and much more stylized. So we wanted to give basically a young adult interpretation in my style and here we are!

Overall a very fun commission. I always love it when a commission leaves some room for me to learn something even if it's just a small thing. So much of being an artist is just absorbing little bits and pieces about the topics you enjoy painting so that you can portray them with a more nuanced and skillful effort. When a commission leads you down a path where some obvious blind spots can be filled in it usually ends up being a pretty fun one. And this was that exactly. Learning a little bit about native american sports (stickball in this case), some about the clothing like the turban and so on.
So yes, hope you'll enjoy this one as much as i did when making it!

This is great! I wish we had something like this in Lakota. He turned out really well.

Thank you very much, and yeah... always the lovely problem of securing the funding for something that just isn't gonna bring in millions upon millions. :/ So it does feel like a bit of miracle that that show even made it into production.

I think we are considered a 'niche' market, sadly. I would love to hear more about the impact of Inage'i.

Yeah I'm not sure if it's a big thing or not. I watched the first episode of it for this commission but i don't think there are more yet. So it might not even be a public show just yet and just the pilot.

The Cherokees are a pretty big population. I'm betting they have their own TV station in Talequah or Tulsa or something like that. The show is listed on IMDB, but has no details. I bet it has never been run mainstream. Pity
