Birds are always so tough. Have you ever taken a look at them? Especially if some of the skin is showing through their plumage they really only appear to be pleasant looking from a distance! So Bird portraits always tend to be such a huge challange to find the balance between my more realistic approach, but leaving enough stylization to where it doesn't look...well entirely like a bird.

Also really trying to be more conscious of toning down my value noise that tends to creep into my paintings. Don't want to destroy the shapes and planes that i got with that, and so being much more subdued and aware of that hopefully will help me get a bit more of a solid look to everything. Chances are i'll have to sway more towards a textured look again in the future, but that's kind of always the back and forth i'm going through.
