Hey everyone. Little bit of a Patreon exclusive thing. Was more meant as an inbetween study but i felt like i brought it far enough to not just chuck it into the miscellaneous folder of the next pack like other studies, and instead upload it here properly.

Nice! I like the contrast between the sketchy stuff and the details, and how you worked mostly on the tones and the lighting

Yeah, it's kind of a shift in thinking i've had in the past few months to just think more in terms of purely the effects of light itself filling everything rather than where specific lightsources are. I'm nowhere near a place where i'm entirely comfortable with it, but it at least seems like a right direction.

And yes a shaded environment with a strong back light is perfect for these experiments. You have an african environment for these experiments, but usually they work better with medieval european dresses and environments because they really explored ways to do folds and microfolds as part of the clothing. It was part of the "style arms race" between the two, and the african side saw it as "too excessive"... because it was... but since the folds were part of the dress, they're also perfect for these experiments. The "best of the worst" would be the roccoco period. Those are really a nightmare to ... whatever artist. Be it sewing, drawing, deisgning... and most of all cleaning. 🤣👍 On the other side i am no artist... and part of the reason why i follow you is that you don't do the stuff i see everywhere else... sooo yeah. You should experiment as you see fit. Consider the above just me thinking out loud, it might give you ideas but i have no pretense they are good or that they will be considered.

Yeah usually if i just paint for myself i don't really think too much about sort of what style of clothing works and adhering to that. In those cases it's really just doing whatever looks fun at the time.
