cassie concept (Patreon)

this was an old concept piece from when i was trying to come up with how cassie was supposed to look for KULTRA. I was going for a sort of dorky, even docile, kind of personality.  In the beginning, she was supposed to have a sort of innocence to her and be almost like a traditional damsal in distress.

looking back, I wasnt happy with the direction i was going originally both personality and artistically; my style was a bit too cartoony than what i was hoping to achieve back then, especially in the eyes. I love anime but it's definitely not they style of drawing I want to do. so i tried to give her a more normal appearance that shows she's more of an average looking girl. i learned to tone the eyes down to size and focus more on other features in the face to distinguish personality; i feel like her nose really stole the show which felt perfect.

giving her more of an attitude I felt had a more interesting personality than be some weak and whiny character that came off more annoying than being redeeming. having her be overtly aggressive in her position actually felt more natural and gave her a more dynamic personality that evolves more in the story.

overall, cassie as she's presented in the story I think is one of the better variants to a "damsal" role I've made in the past few stories.
