Content

Looks like it’s going to be a big day! And maybe a long few days. I have a lot to do here in Wisconsin, but my digital content creation is facing a challenge, too.

One of my creation tools has changed how it works. I’ll have some challenges to face figuring out how to carry on in the future.

Meanwhile, there’s a house that is in serious want for some cleanup and fixup! Sasha, Izzy, and I will be going there to join the Humanitarian Housing crew already there. And there will be cameras. Their PR team will be on site.

Sasha is not, technically, a model, but she could be. I got wind of the story angle their PR team will put out there… James King, renowned philanthropist… etc… has aligned with Humanitarian Housing, sending in a top program manager and sports figures, Izzy Duffy and Ailana Geven to help call attention to our needs… Something like that. I’m sure you get the idea.

The work on the house is about all that’s on tap for today. Izzy and I will appear at a baseball game tomorrow, if everything goes to plan!

Speaking of plan… I better get moving!

See you at the job site later!

Hitting The Job Site

I can’t begin to tell you how I feel right now!

Izzy, Sasha, and I showed up and the Humanitarian Housing PR team took some pictures. I actually don’t think they had much heart to them. Let me explain.

Pretty quickly, the three of us got to work. The crew was busy in the kitchen, tearing out on one side and building anew on the other. They looked like they knew what they were doing.

“How can we help,” I asked the woman who seemed to be in charge.

“Well,” she said, “all this debris is slowing us down… there’s a dumpster by the driveway.”

I had seen the dumpster. I figured I couldn’t make trash worse than it was, so the other girls and I started hauling stuff out.

It wasn’t too long beforeI learned everyone working there, except the woman in charge, was a volunteer. They were carpenters, plumbers, and electricians who had taken their vacation time to give back to the community, to help those in need.

Now, Kenosha is a city, and every city has issues with people who struggle. I learned about a new thing. It’s called ALICE, an acronym for “Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed”—people with jobs, but who still need help.

Food and shelter are basic needs. People who are working jobs, but still struggling sometimes end up compromising both. And every community has them. If you take a second to look around, you’ll find people doing their best in their situation, but finding out they still come up short.

Organizations like Humanitarian Housing step in and help fill the gap. They go in and figure out what is already present, then set out to get it in order so that the people living there won’t be burdened with repairs or forced to do without.

It’s a step up, a boost.

Coupled with some job and career interventions—counseling, training programs, placement services, etc.—Humanitarian Housing has helped a lot of people greatly improve their quality of life.

I said those pictures the PR team took were heartless. The heart of the program is people who volunteer to get dirty, to use their skills, and to do what it takes to make the lives of others better.

Izzy, Sasha, and I were fully invested in the getting dirty part!

As we took a little break, Sasha started fishing around down her shirt. “I made a bad choice on this shirt. Collar is… letting stuff in.”

I looked over as she rolled her eyes and shook her head.

She laughed and sighed. “I have sheetrock between my boobs…”

I had to wonder what had made it through my own shirt, despite the more suitable collar.

Hitting The Shower

Our shift at the job site came to an end a little after lunch. Sasha was still working the phone, even as we went to our room.

“I have a photo session at Big Rick’s Sporting Goods,” Izzy said. “I’ll see you two later?”

“Count on it,” I said as I went into my own room.

I went to the bathroom’s tile floor to strip off my dirty clothes. There was a few scraps of… I’m not sure what… that fell out. I wanted to take a hot soak, but I was so dirty, I showered first.

Then, into the hot tub!

As I sat there to take a selfie, the thoughts about being seen and looked at returned. I don’t want to get too deep or controversial here, but this journey I am on as a digital creator and model has me thinking.

I want all my readers to know that I hope I am entertaining you. I know some of you like the bathtub and shower pictures. Some like the photo sessions more.

I’d wager some of you could take them or leave them. And I really hope no one is off-put by them!

As I said, as a model, I want you to like looking at me. I want to entertain you, and I hope I do!

My plan for the rest of today is to meet Sasha poolside, take it easy, and get some content created for the days to come!

I hope you’ll join us at the pool!

Hitting The Pool

After getting cleaned up (I can’t share my bath with you on Instagram) I headed to the hotel’s big pool to spend the afternoon with Sasha.

Sasha lay down on a raft and I waded around in the water nearby. We talked about her job as project manager to help build awareness for Humanitarian Housing.

“Basically,” Sasha said, “we are proceeding on the idea that if good people know what needs to be done, they will step up and help. It’s really a simple plan. Let the good people know.”

We talked about it a little longer then settled down to rest. I found a deck chair and got my iPad fired up.

After a few minutes, Sasha spoke up. “We are the only one’s here, now.”

I looked around and noted that everyone had left the pool area. Sasha got off the raft and splashed over to a little soaking corner with gentle jacuzzi-like jets and tucked herself into it.

“You mind if I try to undo my tan lines?” Sasha didn’t wait for me to answer before taking off her top.

I didn’t mind, of course. I did, however, change my position so I could keep an eye on the entrance to the pool, so I could warn her if anyone came. I’m not sure everyone in Kenosha would share my opinions!

Hitting The Bed

Day One in Wisconsin is over. I had a great day, and I feel really good about what we did for Humanitarian Housing

Sasha and I will hit the job site again tomorrow. I hope we can be helpful… at least not get in the way!

There’s a baseball event in Chicago tomorrow afternoon. Izzy and I will be on the infield trying to entertain people between batters.

I’m not sure what else will happen tomorrow… But, I hope you’ll be there to share it with me!
