Laci looked at her phone to see an incoming call from her cousin, Alison. It had been several months since they had talked.

“Hey, girl!” Laci said, “What’s up?”

“Oh, you know…” Alison replied. “Grinding the grind, hustling the hustle! How have you been?”

“Pretty good,” Laci replied. “I’m in LA right now at the headquarters.”

“Oh, that’s great!” Alison’s voice was enthusiastic.

“How about you?” Laci replied.

“Same as always, sort of, but with a twist!”

“A twist?” Laci asked.

“I have a chance to be part of the Sports Illustrated shoot! It’s a buy-in opportunity, and Everlane is going to pick from the images for their swimsuit line. A contest sort of connected to a portfolio review. I just need to raise some money quick for the buy-in.”

Laci laughed. “You have tons of money! How much is the buy-in?”

Alison replied. “I need liquid money, not investments, and dad still is managing my portfolio, so if I take from there, he’ll know… He’s still all ‘you need to stop wasting time and money on all these snapshots…’ He’s never going to go for it.”

Laci thought about her own finances for a moment. “Alison, give me a couple days and I can get you some cash. How much do you need?”

Alison quickly replied. “I didn’t call to ask for money. I have another thing… I have a buyer who wants a beach shoot done. I was going to see if you’d model?”

Laci laughed a little. “Oh, you… I’d model for you any time!”

Alison paused. “Well… this would be modeling like… that summer before you went to college at the lake house…”

Laci looked around to see if anyone else would hear her, then replied quietly. “Nudes?”

“Yeah… tasteful… nothing bad, just some bikini shots and some bare…”

The summer Alison was referring to was a defining experience for Laci. It had changed her in many ways, and one was her confidence to be seen nude. California had numerous nude beaches, and Laci was familiar with most of them.

Laci didn’t have to think about it very long. “Okay… when? Where?”

Alison told her where, then said, “Are you free this weekend?”

Laci said she was.

Alison went on. “So… are you still a blond? Not that it matters, just asking…”

Laci replied. “I am for a little while longer. It’s not been what I thought, but… I will be for a little while longer…”

They then agreed where to meet, and said goodbye.

Though being nude on a beach was nothing new to Laci, posing nude on a beach was going to be a new horizon for her.

THE NEXT WEEKED

“Okay… Let’s start with some bikini shots…” Alison was all set and ready for Laci to pose for her shoot.

After some time doing bikini shots, Alison lowered her camera and looked at Laci. “Okay, are you ready to go on?”

Laci was ready.

When it was all over, Laci looked at Alison. "That was way more fun than I imagined!"

Alison smiled. "We'll make some good money off this, I promise. Maybe we can do more another time?"

Laci smiled. "That's a plan!"
