You should try to do a higher belt and lower belt poll. This way, the popular pokemon can duke it out on a fair playing field while the not-so-popular pokemon still have a chance to get in the spotlight. \(^v^)/

In all seriousness, the rate that these polls go majority of the time are completely one sided. There's no point of having a poll if the popular choices are always going to win by a landslide. Could have a poll for the usual choices then the options with the lowest amount have their own poll just to give them a fighting chance. Otherwise, it's just going to end up the same old, same old each time

To be fair, that's how polls work. While it might get a little predictable, since they're popular pokemon among other artists, it's literally what people want to see from Melon, and you can't have him at fault for that. A chunk of lesser-known pokemon have been given the spotlight in the past, too (such as aggron, frostlass, tyranitar, giratina or virizion, to name a few), and there's barely been any repeats, either. He'll make a less popular pokemon poll in the future, but I don't think that comments like yours are the right way to go about asking to see that type of content.
