The midpoint ranking was taken from the week after BTS test, but before Chemi test. It clearly sent a message that fans loved Fake Love and prefered INU to DNA. Second week changed with Flicker and Dive Into You.

To be honest, even though I watched the show after knowing who made it, Jake's benefit made me nervous. Because people wouldn't vote for him as much thinking he's safe since his votes are being doubled so their votes went to other members. It's just how global audiences work and I've seen it time and time again on survival shows and no one seems to learn. The benefit could've ended up failing him. I'm so glad it worked out in his favor, but I also think he might've ended up higher without the benefit.

I don't think the editing was that bad--and I also don't think there was rigging. I think if you're a smart viewer, none of the boys looked bad. If someone didn't get shown at their part, I'm assuming it was bc that member didn't do great and they want their trainees/contestants to look super high quality. That's why we see the judges saying "I know you feel bad bc you messed up" and the boys nodding even though we didn't see it. I agree that the editing made Jay the butt of the joke a lot but I watched a couple of Koreans react to i-land and they were less than fond of the way he kept raising his hand in the second episode (I loved it!) but culturally they explained it came off confrontational and likely made the other boys uncomfortable so I wondered if it was an effort to play down his "stubborn" and direct demeanor and make him seem more approachable? I think the producers and judges all liked him from the start and they could see he would be a great addition to the lineup. Idk, maybe I'm just not cynical enough. But as I was watching the show, I kept in mind that they're kids, under immense pressure, fighting for their dreams and thought all of them were immensely talented and very human. So if people were hating on members I think it says more about the person watching than the editing. I don't watch a lot of survival shows so idk if Mnet has a rep for it but I thought this show was really good to the contestants and as mentally healthy as something like this could be. I imagine that has something to do with BigHit's involvement. They've always been great about putting artists first and treating them like humans and professionals.
