finally you can see suga in action !! kageyama still has a lot of growth to do. as oikawa said, he is not good at trusting his spikers and thinks he has to do 100% of the thinking. the same goes for the spikers not being all able to trust him 100% so they’re not playing at 100%. we will see a lot more of this during the seasons and more setters that challenge kageyama’s way of thinking and playing. rewatching with you guys and knowing what’s to come makes me appreciate more how well paced and written karasuno’s development as a team is.

The Kageyama/Hinata signal is saying certain words in Japanese that both kind of mean “give it to me.” The translation say when they say the word “bring” (e.g. bring it to me, bring it here etc) it’s the crazy quick and when he doesn’t say it, it’s the normal quick. —— Yeah they called him ojiisan which is like ahjusshi in Korean and refers to middle aged men. So no he didn’t like being called that cause it implies he’s middle aged 😂 —— I love these episode in terms of character development. It shows such insight into so many character but especially Kageyama’s and Oikawa’s. Oikawa is analyzing each Karasuno player so closely and serves as exposition to learn more about each character. —— A short scene but it shows that Tanaka is not so easily shaken. He’s able to see his mistakes, own up to them, and doesn’t give up but instead promises to do better. —— Everyone pretty much acknowledges and we see that Oikawa is the better setter here. Even Kageyama admires Oikawa so much and acknowledges him as the best setter in the prefecture, and he is eager to earn that title himself. When they say genius they also mean prodigy. The whole Oikawa is not a genius is the fact that he’s not a prodigy but there’s simply more to being a good setter than being a genius. Kageyama, is a volleyball prodigy and has overwhelming talent but he has so much to improve on. —— If only actual games were like this where they slow it down and explain what’s going on inside the player’s heads, commentary to explain all the strategies, and pause the game play so I don’t miss anything.
