I’m back with the symbolism 😂 I feel like Mang-Tae symbolizes Gang-Tae in this or at least his love. You can see that both Sang-Tae (the older brother) and Moon-Young fight for his attention and his love (like they fight about whose Mang-Tae is). And then when Mang-Tae broke in two it kind of symbolizes Gang-Tae feeling torn about his feelings for Moon-young and taking care of his brother. It might be that I’m overanalyzing but I have this feeling that the drama use a lot of symbolism. ………………………….. I would say that it’s because of Gang-Tae that the older brother doesn’t like them getting close, not because of Moon-young. I think I get that feeling because of what he said while in the closet. That she can have Mang-Tae but not Gang-Tae. He doesn’t want to give away his younger brother. He might be scared that he’s gonna lose him… ………………………….. I think Gang-Tae were happy about being suspended cause he finally let go a little. Moon-Young and the other caregiver mentioned that he is always good at suppressing his emotions and anger. But that’s not good for your mental health. So when he finally let go and let his anger show he might have felt some kind of relief. …………………………. What do you think about my theories/symbolism thoughts? Does it make any sense?

One other symbolism to add is Gantae’s backpack. It represents the burdens that he is always carrying around. When Gantae, Sangtae, and Mun-Yeong are walking arm in arm, she is trying to remove his backpack. Also when Gangtae finally wants to go on the trip, he throws his backpack down representing that he wants to let go. That’s also why he is so happy even when so many things are messed up.

You might miss the word play (because the subtitles actually don't address it) but just to note out, the word "fan" in korean sounds like "pen" which in korean also means pen, so Moon Young was referring to wanting the actual pen, or calling the pen "handsome" while Gang Tae thought Moon Young was talking about wanting the "fan" the whole time, but they were both talking about two different things haha All this word play starts at 31:12 :)
