NSD REACT TO 'MIX & MATCH' Ep.02

Comments

Claire Ramey

It will never cease to amaze me how editing can make people look so different. I remember watching SMTM3, and in that show, the way things were edited, Hanbin and Bobby really looked like arrogant kids who though they could just come on a whim and win the competition without too much struggles. While in Mix&Match, they just look like adorable nervous dorks... The difference is seriously scary o.0 And to answer your questions on SMTM. They normally come prepared, but Hanbin kept messing up at every single rounds, and forgot the lyrics, so he just ended up suddenly free-styling everything. While he succeded on the first round of the preleminaries, he was rejected on the second. However, the judges gave a second chance for those that were rejected on the second round because a lot of talented people ended up rejected while others who got lucky matches ended up succeding even though their rap was awful. The only time Hanbin didn't mess up because of too much stress and fatigue was the BE I one, which became pratically legendary, and was the first song of SMTM that charted in the top 10 of multiple music charts. It was also in this round that he finally got eliminated even though even some judges thought his song was one of the best of the round. Mostly because of idol prejudicies and such, which is why people were so surprised when Bobby won the competition despite going against a famous and well-loved underground rapper with 14 years of experience

i really love that in WIN you were more ..... shy? in judging their singing and dance and now you are more confident telling your thoughts, :D

Watching this again reminded me of my soft spot for Jinhyeong.... Of course we have Chanwoo and he fits perfectly with the team now, but I remembered I liked Jinhyeong a lot too back then... thanks for the reaction guys.

I dont sure but I remember that the theme song made by b.i too (and bobby I think?) also their company's producer comproser etc. too

To be honest it's true Hanbin is more biased towards the other original Team B members... You can see how he doesn't acknowledge the other 3 members or being harsh on them , yet you can still see Hanbin seems to accept Chanwoo a lot (they were in the same team many times after 'Mercy' performance) And there's more interaction between Chanwoo & Hanbin. So I guess people were more willing to accept Chanwoo in terms of voting (after choosing 6 ori. Team B) since iKON is 7 [The back story was also that jinhyeong & Hongseok got scandals during the M&M] so people rather choose Chanwoo. Of course people choose him for his talents too but you can definitely see he blended well with Team B the most among the newbies. Especially interaction with the leader B.I who is literally the backbone of the group which is a must if u want to be in iKON.

SHOW ME THE MONEY season 3 was the first time the show has reached No. 1 on music chart 'MELON' by B.I - BE I (2014) 🎶 And Bobby, the first idol rapper to be champion 🏆 they paved the way for idols to join the show too. The season after season 3 lots of K-POP idols auditioned for the shows too. BTW Hanbin & Bobby haven't even debuted yet, they were still trainees. Talk about talents here 😏 But I definitely hate how the show broadcasted them as arrogant idols from YG entertainment and make them as if they looking down other contestants / underground rappers 😡

of course anyone would be biased, but i'd like to add that i believe in every team hanbin was put in charge of, he did his utmost best for the team members in his group .. because he wanted to deliver a performance that utilised the best of their abilities. saying that he doesn't acknowledge the other 3 members doesn't sit right with me since all three new members in the unreleased scenes have thanked hanbin very geniunely for doing so much for them, especially at the end where some members even tear up in their video messages thanking hanbin for working so hard for them all plus, in the coming episodes, you see hanbin pointing out things that could be improved in the other teams even though they were supposed to be competing against each other. his determination to ensure that a good performance is still shown, regardless of whether it's his team or not

I remember feeling so uncomfortable watching jinhyeong do that to yg, like how you both felt somewhat by the end of the perf lol i completely agree with your comments about b.i being a huge factor to the difference between the 2 perf in this episode. overall i just enjoyed all the little details, little smirks, cute choreo and adlibs throughout mercy.. and most of all, all the members looked very natural with their gestures and looked like they had fun too! like you said, hanbin is direct and i thoroughly believe that this is what is required to be the leader of ikon esp in the situation where they've been put through two reality shows already. the true war begins now... seeing as how the original 3 members are confirmed, the true challenge from here on out is the question: how to make the other members in the groups their assigned to, stand out and do well. for the original three, it's no longer a question of how much they themselves need to protect themselves.. it's an interesting twist, but something that i guess all of yg and their judges are mindful of is... which of these 9 members can adapt and fit in this new 7 member boy group in this short amount of time.

Knowing more and being better than the 3 newbies isn't that much of a consolation I mean look at win team b was better than team a throughout the majority of the show and team b still lost. That's why Donghyuk, Yunhyeong and Junhoe are worried because being good didn't guarentee them anything last time. As for how show me the money works when you audition most if not all participants prepare something in this instance with hanbin he did have something prepared but unfortunately forgot so he started freestyling. This happens alot to him in the show but its understandable because show me the money and mix and match were being shot simultaneously so hanbin was dealing with alot. In show me the money alot of the contestants criticized them and looked down on them for being idol rappers and for competing even though they already had a label. Bobby won in the end and YGE did one of the best things they have ever done for him by letting him keep ALL of the money he won instead of having to distribute(?) It with others like its normally done. They funny thing is that for the next season of show me the money a BUNCH of idols auditioned 😂

So here my thoughts on your reaction

I love it more you were both know the boys better now, and you tryin to be subjective to all their struggles and situations. Thank you boys! Btw please react to donghyuks Pure Water dance choreography with crowns and stage K! 😘

Hanbin may be bias towards the original members, but he is still a perfectionist and fair leader. He gives credit where credit is due. He wouldn't ruin the 'whole picture' of a performance just to give advantage to the old members. There is a trust and confidence between members to do their own parts and not get left behind. The 3 will help, but the others gotta help themselves out. With this in mind, there is a gap between the new members and team B's mind set and work ethics. And I think that's what the new members are still learning throughout this series. There is a certain standards already set by the OG members. They have to follow or else get left behind. It will be interesting for you guys to see the different leadership styles between Jay, Bobby, and Hanbin. You'll see it more in the next episode. Mix & Match is really fun to watch. LOL.

Hey, long time no see Kevin and David😊 I was really busy at work. By the way, after watching this ep, I kinda wish you'll start watching Bigbang documentaries too just so you would see how YG grew from nothing to a legendary company that they are now, being known as home of global Korean artists😍 also, you'd get to know how the 2nd gen of Kpop groups struggle back then without the power of social media and youll get to see the foundation of YG why many people love and support Bigbang.

Yang Hyun Suk, bringing singers with different voice tone, voice type, and voice pitch, in one group is actually one of the best things that YG Ent has contributed to the Korean music industry.

One important thing YG started that stays with me til this day was “ he believe in putting his trainees through cruel competition and harsh criticism because he don’t want them to be affected by the harsh realty of haters/knetz. He want them to built tough skin even before they debut because it’s a sad reality among YG artists”. This is still true to this day the amount of hate YG artists gets on a daily basis. Anything they do get scrutinized by the public it’s ridiculous.

When iKON debuted they are known to have the best rapper line. B.I and Bobby owns the stage. It's rare that rappers, esp in idol groups, stand out. They said that iKON has a rapper line that does rapping as a living, because other idol groups felt like they just add a rapper because every kpop group needs a rapper. That's how strong YG rappers are. Between the two though, Bobby is actually the better performer, probably part of the reason why is because of his voice fits the genre perfectly. His flow is really amazing that even underground rappers recognize bobby as not just a typical idol rapper. B.I is at par with Bobby in terms of performance, his charisma is overflowing and actually better in terms of creativity with his lyrics, but I guess his voice sound like a typical kpop voice that’s why I think bobby is more recognized as a rapper (their style is very different from one another as well). But despite of Bobby really standing out esp when rapping, B.I is the best in getting the whole team together. Bobby is the best on his own element, but B.I can make everyone stand out. That’s what makes B.I the best leader iKON could ever have. From then, even now, B.I’s concern is to make sure that iKON will be remembered. He puts aside his solo for the entire team’s welfare. Making sure that there will be a comeback. But since B.I is very strict he also needed Jinhwan to be like a caring mother for his team members and Bobby like a brother and friend, that’s why they have the strongest teamwork you’ll see in Kgroups.

Jinhyeong seems to be a better singer and Chanwoo is a better dancer (at the moment). I really liked Jinhyeong's voice so i looked him up and he's a solo artist. idk if he dances, but seems like he probably doesn't. Seems like he may have never truly gotten into dancing. While Chanwoo likes to sing AND dance, so he had a bit of an advantage :) it's funny and sad, in a way, to see the Jinhwan's team talking crap about chanwoo behind his back lol. It's fine, cause this was before they were friends, but it's so ironic. I think Jinhyeong had a bit of a better hand here cause he was on Jinhwan's team and they seemed more accepting. Poor Chan :( he had June and Hanbin. Love them both, but they were pretty mean to him back then haha. I never noticed how similar Song and Jinhwan's voices are until Song sang right after him, lol. I think Song's voice got deeper as he got older, cause he sounded just like Jinhwan. Then again, maybe it's cause Jinhwan helped him with singing so that may be why. My Song bias heart exploded when he started rapping. Multitalented king. He improved a lot with his singing too. I think the Jinhyeong guy fit iKON's vibe pretty damn well. He blended in nicely, it'd be interesting if he debuted with them. I think they wouldn't be that much different, he'd just need to improve his dancing, but he probably gets better later on. I'm not even joking, I can't choose. I think both were amazing in different ways. I think Chanwoo just needed to improve his singing, but that's obvious. Even DK a little? Kevin is so spot on, his voice felt out of place. I think Chan, DK and Jinhyeong don't seem very confident in their singing (which is sad cause they were all great singers but they're holding back). Song and June seem way more confident in their voices so they also just sound better. But tbh, June and Song are confident people in general lol. Chan and DK are more insecure, so it makes sense. I think Jinhwan was focusing on making Jinhyeong feel more comfortable? He's nurturing so he was trying to make sure everyone was good and comfortable, so he wasn't focusing on the performance part, just the singing. While Hanbin is a natural leader and his mind was only on the performance and hence why the teamwork during practice was tense and awkward and Jinhwan's was relaxed and fun. When Jinhyeong said he felt like he may blow it, i was like...."damn...sorry dude, you didn't make it...." but it's okay, you're solo now? Poor guy haha. Hope this didn't hurt him too much. I may have cried when DK cried oof, i'm sad.

Fans knew about Jinhyeong first before knowing about Chanwoo going to 'join' iKON. Some thought Jinhyeong was going to replace one of Team B boys. Some of them started spreading bad rumors of Jinhyeong. It ruined his rep before M&M even started.. it got bad that Jinhyeong had cried. His friends & teachers spoke up about Jinhyeong being the nicest kid and wanted to find the source to sue. When hearing that, these kids deleted what they did and went quiet but the damage had already been done ... Jinhyeong and the other new guy yet to be shown were more nervous than Chanwoo when performing maybe because it's their first televised performances.

Did you guys considered possibly watching WinnerTV as a continuation from WIN?

Olenti

I remember watching this as it was unfolding. I'm enjoying watching through your eyes. Even knowing the outcome, it's still interesting to see the journey. I think it helps understand iKON more.

You do notice that performance does include dancing and stage presence and interpretation of different genres of music right? B.I is the all-rounder when it comes to staging a performance. Don't conclude who is a better performer like you did. And also, people have different tastes, it's hard to say who is a better singer between June and Jay, so why easily judge who is the better rapper? Maybe it's better not to state your personal preference as a matter of fact. You remember how B.I killed Climax, Be I and most of the stage right? Personally, I see B.I as the performer I like the most. PS. I still like Bobby though, and all the members, I appreciate them all, just that B.I stands out the most in my eyes because he meets my taste.
