Okay, so my little corner of the world is bracing for what will be a fairly extreme and extended cold period. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, but it's a bit of a confluence of events for me. I've been living in the same tiny apartment for several years now. Like most people, I accumulate stuff. I've been thinking for a while that I should get a bigger apartment. A big part of that stems from the fact that I like to cook but my kitchen is tiny. Not a great mix. Instead of being impulsive, I'm riding out my current lease. So, as a stopgap and to clear some room in my place, I rented a storage unit. I'd been procrastinating about putting anything into it, but the time for procrastinating is over because the heater/furnace thing for my apartment has developed some kind of a problem. It works sometimes, doesn't work sometimes, and I want it operational for the cold that's coming.

That means I really need to get stuff out of here so that whoever comes to fix it will have a reasonable amount of room to work. So, now I'm in the process of putting things into storage totes and hauling them off to the storage unit. As anyone who has ever moved knows, that kind of process is time-consuming and creates an even bigger mess before it improves the mess. It's also exhausting. So, the big takeaway here is that for the next few days at least, I'm expecting to finish one chapter per day. It won't be less than that. It may be more. It really depends on how tired I am at the end of the day. I just wanted to let you know that I'm not being lazy. Occasionally, life just intervenes in annoying ways to interfere with my writing. I'm also having to do the kind of shopping you do when even your utility company thinks there might be power outages. Bottled water, non-perishable food items, batteries...sigh. I hate shopping.

Why get your geater fixed when you can warm yourself with internet hugs?

The most liberating move I ever made I filled an 8 foot box pickup truck with stuff to keep and a dumpster with everything else. I should do it again... Good luck!

That's been my approach to moving for a long time. Every move, I got rid of a third of my stuff. I've done it often enough now that I actually want pretty much everything I own.

So how's that storm coming along?
