Spent most of this weekend camping and reading. Didn't do any writing but I did read 7 out of 9 entries which puts me nearly at the point where I'm ready to start making choices. Some good work there, some stuff that might be good with some polishing. Perhaps the biggest mistake I've found is a misunderstanding of the System , sometimes people forgetting things that have been explicitly stated, other times just misunderstanding because of the pace of change and, in a bunch of cases, just a lack of information.

If/when I do the next anthology, I'm going to make sure a wiki is up first. This is entirely my fault, so I'm willing to work with people on this, but it pains me that others have to do extra work because I didn't put in enough work beforehand. Heee.

Went camping back at Haines Junction / Kathleen Lake. Pictures are on FB, but it was fun hiking up. We did a camp talk with the park rangers, and I learnt something really interesting that will end up in a short story.

Which is beginning to remind me (again), that I need to get out. The more things I do, the more talks I see / read / etc. the more I learn. And that can help influence writing.

Really sad I didn't work hard enough to finish my story for the anthology but glad you got enough good entries to make it worthwhile, will look forward to it coming out!!

I think the lack of a wiki was one of my impediments to writing a short story. I wanted it to be canon :P

Yeah. In a few cases, the stories diverge so much from 'canon' that even if the writing is decent, I can't accept it. It just breaks so many rules that are central to both their story and mine that they'd have to do a complete rewrite to make it work. *Sighs*
