So. I think I might have mentioned this before, but I went wide with 3 of my Adventures on Brad audiobooks. Doing that means I lose 15% of my royalty rates from ACX (i.e. sales on iTunes and Audible) but I get to access a LOT of other people. Since Audible is only like... 40% of the market, it seemed worthwhile to test.

Here's the 1st month results:

 3 books.

Total sales in ACX = 22 copies. Total royalty $43.75. That's a drop of $28.36 if I had stayed in ACX exclusively.

Findaway royalty in that period: $63.36

Net gain of $28.36.

I'm probably going to pull A Gamer's Wish out of Audible exclusivity (I can only do so 1 year after it's been released IF I paid for it myself and chose exclusive distribution). I'm debating about pulling books 1 & 2 for the System Apocalypse.

I do significantly more sales for SA, especially when I release a book (ebook or audiobook). The drop in royalty rates could hurt. A lot. On the other hand, the gain... might be worth it.

It's one of those things that as an indie author, you have to balance. If we did as well with the wide book, I might gain more fans, more books, more readers. But I'm giving up 'sure' money for uncertain money. And that's hard. So... blargh. I might wait until book 3 is available for SA to do it which is in August.

Anyway, here's another boring glimpse into the backend of the indie publishing business.

On things you guys find more interesting: I'm on the last day of editing. 172/201 pages. Added about 4k words to the series including 3 scenes. After that, I'll start posting Chapters from the AoB series I was working on and get that finished before I move onto System Apocalypse book 8.

Oh...

And I might have written the prologue for an OP isekai superhero book.
