The opening song is indeed a Chinese song. The original is the famous song 月亮代表我的心 The Moon Represents My Heart by Teresa Teng, maybe you heard it before. https://youtu.be/mAq6BDlK3jU The director P’Aof thought that this song fits the theme of this Moonlight Chicken series, and he had all the main casts sang the cover, in Chinese too. I am so happy you decided to react to Moonlight Chicken. It's definitely different than any regular gmm bl series, it's also more mature and I think, correct me if I’m wrong, it's not targeted to a teen audience but more adult or as I like to think of it, more to different generations. Just like the characters, there's a generation gap, mainly portrayed through Uncle Jim and his nephew Li Ming. This first episode has such a beautiful atmosphere from the way it's filmed, wity barely any cuts and little dialogue for Jim and Wen, but despite all that we feel the tension build as the first part of the episode goes on. The Midnight series had 3 parts bit the stories are completely unrelated so you can watch any or all. First one was Midnight Motel with Off, Janhae and Louis, it's a bit of a mystery one, very fun and thrilling to watch. Then there's Dirty Laundry with Film and Nanon as the main duo going through crazy funny adventures to find missing money. It's completely unserious, the perfect stress reliever and so fun to watch. Moonlight Chicken is completely different lol But one main theme that is found in all three series is following characters who are poor and who are trying to get a better life. We as viewers, follow the journeys all these characters throughout the 3 mini series. I loved your enthusiasm at seeing so many familiar faces at the start if the episode 😊😊

I totally agree with you Cynthia. The target audience for this is not definitely their usual target as compared to their other chill, positive, light-hearted BL series. This series is more mature and serious. They even showed it through their choice of color palette and cinematography. Thanks for also telling me about the Midnight series! Yay! :')
