This is one of my absolute favorite episodes of Doctor Who and I'm glad I caught up to your reactions just in time for it. When I first watched this it gave me strong Midnight vibes with the unknown "monster," and had me in goosebumps almost the entire episode. This episode was actually nominated for the Bram Stoker Award, which is an award for dark fantasy and horror, and was the first episode of Doctor Who to ever be nominated for that, which considering some of the past episodes like Midnight and Blink is saying something. There's a bit of a call back in this episode, when the two people are talking about the doctor in the barn, one of them mentions that he'll never join the army if he keeps running away. In the 3 part finale of season 3 the doctor talks to Jack and Martha about how they took the children of Gallifrey to gaze into the untempered schism for initiation and some children would be inspired, some would go mad and some would run away. When Martha asked what he did he casually mentions he ran away and never stopped. So he didn't join the army like the two in the barn said, but became the doctor we love instead. Lastly, if there's one word I would use to describe Capaldi's doctor, it would be monologues. He's my absolute favorite doctor by a mile and every time he launches into one I am instantly gripped.

If you ever turn around and your coffee's not there...the Doctor took it, man, I wish he'd stop doing that. This was a great episode, I was hooked from the opening monologue from the Doctor, wondering why we talk to ourselves and the episode kept being great throughout. I like Danny Pink and the interwoven through his and his ancestors timeline story, including the interesting discussion with Orson Pink about his Great Grandmother who talked about time travel and the it took them awhile to get it right awkward date attempts. I thought it had some great creepy and tense moments and I love the ending with Clara and the Doctor as a child. Great reaction, I'm glad you both enjoyed it, I look forward to the next one.
