I am so glad you guys enjoyed the premiere of this season! I was totally captivated the first time I watched it because of how different it is from Season 1. It's so confusing and much faster paced than season 1. The detective mystery adds a lot of energy to things. One small thing I will clarify, because there was a lot of overwhelming information in this first episode and I don't want it to distract you guys too much, has to do with the timelines in the "San Francisco Dimension" (and this is not a spoiler of any sort, I'm drawing only from things we explicitly see in this first episode): Karim learns about Pierre Ruskin, the tech investor he suspects to be behind the Q Symphony game and later tails to the strange building (the sign said CURI) where people were being all kinds of shady and strange women were lying in beds in a circle. We also know from the hospital scene that Pierre Ruskin is the boyfriend of Nina. So these two storylines seem to be coinciding. I will also mention that in the hospital, after Nina awoke, the nurse asks her what year it is and she says 2016. The nurse moved onto the next question without concern. This tells me that in this season 2 San Francisco, just as in season 1 Michigan, the setting is 2016. But 2016 sure looks a lot different in this season. I know SF was a tech Mecca at that time but some of the things we've glimpsed seem a bit advanced. Hell, even the color and lighting in this season is different than the cool, blue tones of season 1. It also gets stupidly confusing watching this episode in 2024 because Joe Biden IS the current US president. In 2016 (and in 2019 when this first aired) Biden was not and never had been president, so when the nurse reveals Biden on TV as president it stood out more obviously as "this must be an alternate reality, why is Biden president and why doesn't the nurse know who Obama is?" In 2024, it unfortunately and unintentionally leads some viewers to suspect a time jump. Since I screwed up and forgot to apply to be an EP for March, I hope you guys get a chance to rewatch this (rather lengthy) first episode again before jumping into episode 2 if (and when) I get a chance to sponsor it, just as a refresher. Probably best to avoid seeking out recaps because those can get spoiler-y, unfortunately. Maybe just skim around episode 1 a bit to refresh at least. This season packs a LOT of details and mystery into its episodes, way more than the first season, so keeping pace with what is happening both visually & in dialogue is important. For that reason, I really appreciate that you guys paused at one point and rewound a couple minutes to follow a scene you were briefly distracted from. Y'all are truly dedicated to the craft of reacting and also just good media consumption in general! Keep paying attention & keep watching, we love it. You're going to love this season a lot and I'll share more of my thoughts as we start to untangle this insane mystery season 2 is presenting.
