Hats off to Murray Gold for another fantastic score. He said this was the toughest episode for him as composer because he had to do it like a musical rather than just a typical score in the background. The timing of everything is different, since they are actually singing the words on screen. The monologue for me (and many people) is of course the stand out moment of the episode, and I agree with JRabbit that it feels like we've got the Doctor back after his 200 year funk. There was another easter egg in this episode, which I totally missed until it was pointed out to me. On Clara's mom's gravestone, the date she died is 5th March 2005. That's the date the first episode of NuWho is set with Rose and the 9th Doctor. The implication here is that Clara's mom was maybe killed by the autons (aka the shooty mannequins!)!

This was a good episode and great reaction, I'm glad you both enjoyed it. This episode, had some sweet moments with Clara and Merry and I really like the opening, showing us Clara's parents and the importance of the leaf. Overall, the episode as a whole, isn't something I always remember, I forget a lot of it until I'm watching it again. But that ending, the speech with the singing and Clara sacrificing the leaf, I always remember that. So every time a reactor gets to this episode, I'm always thinking, ah, the episode with the speech and the music, I love it. I look forward to the next one.
