My favorite episode! Such a breath of fresh air after the last one. This was feel-good in all the best ways. Richie's arc has been such a slow burn. Him happily singing along to Taylor Swift in the car gave me the biggest grin. The pizza scene made me cheer. His growth was so satisfying. Also, while Richie belongs in The Bear, I think he also found a place in Ever. Garrett and Jess were great teachers to Richie and so welcoming as colleagues. As bad as Carmy can be at social interactions, he's really good at elevating people to their potential and finding environments for them to thrive in. From entrusting Tina with his knife no questions asked, to sending Marcus to the patient and calm Luca, to sending Richie to Chef Terry and her wonderful staff -- they all turned out to be exactly what each of them needed. The message that it's "never too late to start over" and that "every second counts" feels, to me, the central theme of The Bear. It applies not just to Richie but also to Tina (in a very similar place in life as Richie), to Syd (with her failed business same as Chef Terry), to Marcus (who has to carefully decide what to spend time on while his mother is dying) and to Nat&Carmy (literally starting over with the restaurant that represents so much of their familial trauma). it's a very rewarding theme to follow. A few more things: 1. Ever is a real restaurant and all the food we saw was actually cooked by their chef and many of the staff we saw were real staff. 2. The picture with Luca and Carmy have caused fans to speculate that the chef Luca was talking about in ep4 -- the one who was so much better than Luca -- was actually Carmy. 3. Luca has the exact same "Every Second Counts" sign in his kitchen. 4. Did anyone else think Jess seemed like she wanted to ask Richie out at the end there?
