I really love this episode. I think it's great to have an episode set from Amy and Rory's new perspective of life at home, rather than a life travelling with the Doctor. It made the scene with Amy and the Doctor much more emotional with him telling her that she's the first face his new face saw. Brian was a great character here, and you can start to see where Rory gets some of his morals and character from. A little behind the scenes gossip; apparently the actor who plays the Shakri was incredibly difficult to work with. He threw massive temper tantrums on set, and deliberately messed up a lot of his lines. It got to the point where they just had to call cut, and salvage what they could. There was supposed to be this entire scene at the end with Rory taking out the two orderlies and Amy destroying the Shakri, but they didn't have enough quality footage to make it work, so in post they re-wrote the ending to fit what they could salvage. So I've mentioned the character Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in the past, most recently in the Wedding of River Song when the Doctor got a phone call to say he had passed away. If you recall I mentioned the real life actor had passed away so they decided to acknowledge that in the show. For fans of the classic series, the introduction and subsequent reveal of Kate Stewart as the daughter of the Brigadier is such a huge moment, and was great to see that she is now head of Unit. The actress who plays her is Gemma Redgrave, part of the Redgrave acting dynasty which includes some massive names like Vanessa Redgrave, Jodie and Natasha Richardson, and more.

Great reaction, this was a very good episode, Brian is a great addition to the show as Rory's dad, it was fun watching him in this episode and his first episode. There was also some really great moments with Amy, Rory and the Doctor, I loved that scene when he talked about her being the first face his new face saw. The episode also had some good intrigue built up surrounding the cubes and I really liked the introduction to the new head of UNIT, Kate Stewart, the daughter of the Brigadier. I had seen the Brigadier on one of the many Doctor Who spin off shows and after seeing him looked up the history of the Brigadier, seeing how much history he had with the Doctor, then I sadly heard about his passing. So, I know it won't mean quite as much to me, as it would to someone who has watched Doctor Who from the beginning but I did highly appreciate the introduction of his daughter into the show.
