This was a really great episode, not something you normally get to say about a Dalek episode. I know the Daleks and Cybermen are important parts of the history of Doctor Who, but their episodes aren't usually the best ones of the series, although I will say I tend to find the Dalek episodes slightly more interesting then the Cybermen ones, most of the time. Maybe it's because of the long history of war and all the hate between the Doctor and the Daleks, that you can feel that more when their around and in the scenes the Doctor has with them, then you can with the Cybermen. Oswin Oswald, she's so great, funny, charming and a genius, she's wants to see the stars, wow, we should probably bring... oh, wait, she's going to die isn't she? I don't know how the show does this but even when you think the character is probably going to die, you somehow still end up loving them and hoping you'll be wrong and they somehow won't die. But seriously her story was really sad and the actress did a fantastic job, they also had some really great emotional moments with Amy and Rory in this episode as well, which I loved. I feel like a lot of people watching the show and the characters in the show, just assume that Rory loves Amy more, so that moment when she's showing/telling/yelling at him how much she loves him was great. Great reaction, I'm glad you both enjoyed the episode, I was honestly a little worried since it was a Dalek episode. I look forward to the next one.

On the matter of which companions to take, honestly, when you consider who's still alive and are able to be found, Rory and Amy were the best they've got. They probably just got Rory because he was already at Amy's location. It's also episodes like this that I enjoy rewatching Moffat's era of episodes so much. Knowing the twist ahead of time doesn't ruin the mystery, you get to see how many hints they've been dropping the whole time.
