I really love this episode, getting even more answers to the River Song mystery. The only 1 gripe I have is that I wish Mel's had been introduced earlier. Since she was their childhood friend it would have been amazing to have her cameo or mentioned in the first episode set in their home town. Maybe a bridesmaid at the wedding. Anything so that when she steps out of the car, we aren't all like "who the heck is this?" followed by a 3 minute flashback through her and Amy's friendship. However, I do understand logistically getting someone to commit to 3 small parts spread so far apart is challenging. So cast your minds back to Season 5, the crash of the Byzantium. River is flying the Tardis, and Amy asks how that's possible. River says "I learned from the very best" and the Doctor looks all smug. She follows up with "It's a shame you were busy that day." Well, this is that day. The Doctor was busy dying, and it was the Tardis herself who show's River how to fly it. Oh, and unless I'm mistaken, we have this episode released today as part of regular rotation, then Torchwood drops today via EP sponsorship, AND an adventure in time and space is dropping via EP sponsorship. Can we just go ahead and mark August 31st as National RTR Whoniverse Day?

I thought this was a really good episode, I loved getting to meet Melody Pond, even if she was trying, technically succeeding, to kill the Doctor. It was cool to see how she started to become River Song and met the Doctor for the first time. I also liked the reveal that Mel was Melody and grew up with her parents and that moment during the flashback when Amy realized Rory liked her, I thought that was funny. Great reaction, I look forward to the next one.
