2023-06-13 08:42:12 As a lifelong Dungeons & Dragons nerd, I really wanted this movie to be good. Judging by the cast and the trailer, I thought it would be pretty good. I didn't expect it to be THIS good. I definitely didn't expect it to make me cry a little bit. I love how you pointed out how many things it reminds you of, like Lord of the Rings and The Witcher and all that... because that's basically what D&D grew from. Just all the stuff that's fun about those kind of stories, all just sort of smashed together. Lord of the Rings was a really obvious and direct influence on it. And over the years it has created a bunch of fantasy tropes itself.
