When I watched this with a VPN as it aired in the UK, I did not realize there would be a seventh episode, which thankfully aired the next day. So, until I could Google it, there were about five or ten minutes when I actually thought this show had just done the most darkly disturbing ending ever. Apparently, the show is semi-autobiographical from the creator's point of view, and she actually had a close friend lose her father at about that age. It is a shocking twist, but on reflection it does fit with the show's themes of the dark and light side of life intertwining. But man, I was a hot mess after this one.
