Hey guys! I apologize in advance for what will probably be a very long comment. This episode is the one we all warned you about. The amount of absolute disgusting content in it… it’s been years and I’m still sickened. I think most of the fandom agree this episode- while important in shaping certain elements in the future- is the worst of the show. This is the first time since my first viewing of the show that I’ve rewatched it, and it’s still as awful as I remember. The title is fitting- cascading failures. As awful as this episode is though, the way that they seamlessly hit you at the end with more and more uncomfortable scenes so fast you can’t even catch your breath is masterful. It holds your interest even if you just want to know how the hell they’ll pull out of it. To start-Kev and V and that whole mess… I just can’t even begin to understand where her brain is at. As a mom, I couldn’t even fathom the idea of doing this with my daughter’s partner, baby making or not! V really didn’t give it a whole lot of time or thought to trying other alternatives either. Just leaves you with a nasty taste in your mouth. Ian and Mickey… I’ve said this before that Mickey is my favorite character, and I stand by that. I wasn’t sure about him in the beginning. Season 3 changed that. This episode shows exactly why he was so frightened of Frank catching them in season two and running his mouth. What Ian failed to realize even though Mickey made it clear is how his dad would react. Terry is an evil, racist homophobe. Mickey, Mandy, and all their other siblings have had to live with him their whole lives. In fear, in filth. Fighting to survive. He knew this would happen. It’s why he kept Ian at a distance even though he obviously likes him. Ian is lucky- even in the south side he has understanding family. Frank may be an awful human being, but he pales in comparison to Terry. There wasn’t much Mickey could do but go along with it, and it’s heartbreaking to look at Mickey’s face during those moments. Then- freaking Frank. Poor Fiona having to find out their own father sold them out. Having Jimmy cheating on her, losing the kids she’s busting her butt trying to take care of. The whole heartbreaking split up with the kids… it’s a lot. I really enjoyed your reactions, and I can’t wait to see you on the next one! 😬

Wow yeah this episode was very disturbing. I remember seeing an interview with Cameron (ian) a few years ago and he spoke about that scene saying how uncomfortable it was for all of them and how it is the worst thing he’s ever had to do in his career, especially so young.
