Well first off, I have to say it's hard to find movies I think you might like that you haven't already seen, that's why I had to go back to the 90s. Definitely agree that aspects of this movie haven't aged well, it was a 1995 vision of the future, where the streets are covered with burning cars, fog machines, and random military for some reason. The core concept around the ability to record full experiences for other people to play back always fascinated me, especially the idea that it was developed to help soldiers with ptsd and was almost immediately repurposed to make porn. Also the whole forcing someone to experience their own murder from the perspective of the murderer idea is bonkers. I do agree with your assessments, I wish they flushed out some aspects more and tried to make the pacing a bit more even, there are definitely parts that drag, and Mace's relationship with Lenny could've been given more attention, but I really like some of the concepts and characters.
