The comment E made for the episode explained what a Martha is in Gilead. There are several other classifications of women. The Aunts train and manage the postings of the Handmaids. The Commander class have wives... Serena Joy is a typical wife! And of course you know about the Handmaids. THE MARTHAS, AUNTS, HANDMAIDS, a sex worker class called JEZABELS and even the WIVES ARE ALL SLAVES TO THE MEN. There are two other fates for women. The lower class (non-Comander-class) families must all live under the thumb of the theocracy but can be somewhat out of the formal system, Finally any/all non-fertal women (even some fertal ones) who fight back, cause trouble, or are 'free thinkers' are killed or are 'sent to the colonies' which are polluted work camps west of the eastern seaboard. Anyone sent there... goes there to die a horrible death! JRabbit, to answer... any/all sex outside the Ceremony to procreate, is strictly forbidden. Offically, there is to be NO SEX between husbands and wives or anyone - of course the Commanders support a thriving illegal sex trade (using the Jezabels). RJ your thoughts about June (Offred) strategizing to do more.... oh well, you're right! There is one other group of women (and men) I forgot to mention earlier... Mayday! Thank you both for advocating for this amazing series to be voted in. I ssure you, that you can't imagine where and how far things will go from here!

Regarding the EP Sponsored 'The Handmaids Tale' - 1x3 reacted to last month (and series thus far), I feel the need to put my 2 cent in... Ep.3 The first comment that caught my attention was JRabbit saying "Sarah" at seeing Yvonne, and I thought... SHE'S NOT OUR WONDERFUL SARAH ANYMORE! She's the infamous SERENA JOY!!! Please know Janine (handmaid with only 1 eye) is NOT nuts, she's not even simple, she's just sometimes delusional, and Janine is going to grow (and grow on you) so much!. JRabbit... the rest of the world has a near zero birth rate too, but has not crumbled around fundamentalist religion' (AKA mind control) like the former US (now Gilead) has. One clarification - This is taking place in Boston and the only escape to the north of 'Gilead' (which is now what the continental US is called), is all the way to Canada. Lastly, Poor Emily!, seeing her martha partner hanged then female genitalia removal -YUCK! then going back... Ep. 2 The BEST Part of this react was RJ breaking into Simple Minds' 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' at the end and JRabbit appreciating him after she was visibly sitting there, with her skin crawling the whole episode before that moment - So Sorry JRabbit. but reacts as good as this RTR one shine through the darkness! Don't worry RJ you will learn how society fell hard onto the necks of women. and finally... Ep. 1 Welcome to the nightmare! JRabbit, you are right THT is a world of a hyper-patriarchal distorted theocracy where ALL women are slaves to men's awful desires. Bottomline: 'The Handmaids Tale' has been nominated for over 60 Emmys so far after 5 seasons, and is IMHO, one of the very best series of the last 10 years

Please not too too heavy with the spoilers? I’ve been trying my best to hold back on saying spoilers things and although I wouldn’t really mind usually, I’ve been putting money towards these reactions and doing my best for months not to give too much away. I do appreciate your enthusiasm toward the show though

Thank you so much for reacting to this :) I would be so scared if I were June and not knowing who to trust (like the doctor). This episode only continues to show Serena’s cruelty and how she takes her own stripping of independence out on June. I love Moira in the flashbacks though =) glad you’re enjoying reacting to the show and I really hope to sponsor more soon
