Great reaction to a great episode! Long comment ahead, feel free to cut it from the read-through before the next episode (although viewers can also just skip 2 minutes ahead if they don't want to hear my thoughts 🤪 what's the point of paying for the Patreon if not to interact with the reactors in between episodes? I love that you guys actually read & respond to these comments, many don't.) This was another episode that really examines questions of right & wrong. How much Mike went through NOT to pull the trigger contrasts so well with the killer we know in BB, who rarely hesitates to pull the trigger, and does so frequently. And we feel for Jimmy, he's so sympathetic and clever and his commercial WAS good- But.... He didn't go about it the right way. He acts rashly too often and does not think about how his actions impact others. I agree that he really f**ked up by trying to hide from Kim how he went behind the firm's back and what Cliff Main said when he called him in the episode prior. Jimmy is so smart but also very dumb in other ways, I don't know how he didn't see that this would all blow up in his face. If not dumb, he's certainly immature and that immaturity is evidenced by his dumb and selfish decision-making. Chuck says that he, Chuck, "isn't the bad guy here" and I agree with him. He's a bad brother but Jimmy was in the wrong. And I think that's why Chuck was "sick" when Jimmy came over. He isn't faking it, at least not consciously. Every time Jimmy "slips", Chuck's condition worsens. Which just compounds Jimmy's guilt. Jimmy is so guilt-ridden, seeing his struggle in this show adds so much depth to the character we were introduced to in Breaking Bad. Speaking of Breaking Bad, time for a couple more tie-ins (also, I didn't realize you guys have only seen it once before- when did you watch BB? Just wondering how long ago it was). The gun dealer Mike visits is the same one Walt visits a few times in BB. I guess he's the best in Albuquerque lol. Also, the drug dealer Tuco & Nacho are meeting with at the restaurant is none other than Domingo, AKA Krazy-8, the same drug dealer Walt abducts and kills, via strangulation in Jesse's basement, in like episode 3 or 4 of BB. Krazy-8 even told Walt about how he used to work at his father's furniture store, and we see in this scene that he is wearing an employee polo for Tampico Furniture. I love how BCS weaves in so many plots and characters from BB without making them feel ham-fisted in any way, they fit very neatly into the over-arching narrative and leave the viewer fully satisfied, whether they were BB fans or not. OK sorry for the long comment, thank you both for reading it! Enjoy the next episode and the color-fading intro sequence. What could it mean? 🤔
