I love this movie and was so surprised when you said you hadn’t seen it on a reaction to The Office. I’m very happy you now have :) salim was definitely an asshole but you can see all the anger he was feeding off of and how he wanted to be tough to survive. Still underneath it all there was that want to protect his baby brother which went until the end. For as many jerk as moves Salim made you can see that Jamal, his family, was so important to him. Latika wasn’t his family so why waste energy on her? But Jamal was probably the most important person in his life. That’s why I find Salim able to be redeemed. But that’s my little rant on Salim. glad you enjoyed the movie

I had the opportunity to visit India for 5 weeks in my 20's. People (locals) told me not to give money to the children. That the kids were part of the slums, and by giving them money it encouraged the slums to continue. It was so heartbreaking to see the kids perform for money, and me not giving them a penny. Worse than that, was who I was told I SHOULD give the money to. The incapacitated or disabled adults. The reason being is they are the only people in India who can't get a job. The worst part is the realization that there are only so many disabled adults because they are the ones who were kidnapped, trafficked, and mutilated as children! That being said, there's problems in every country. It's not what defines India, but I'm glad they made a movie to exploit that.
