I'm so happy you guys liked Torchwood. It's definitely a lot grittier than Doctor Who, and is aimed at an adult audience. Sarah Jane (who you may remember from the School Reunion episode in season 2) also had a spin-off aimed at children, and there was another spin-off called Class targeted at young adults (which unfortunately didn't do so well). You mentioned you were a little confused by the timeline. This reaction did come just a little bit early. Torchwood season one originally aired between season 3 and 4 of Doctor Who. I really hope this one gets voted into rotation, for season three alone, it's incredible and I think you would both love it!

Great Reaction, I've always liked Torchwood and I hope you both get a chance to see more episodes. Another Place you might recognize Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) from other than Broadchurch is Doctor Who, in season 1 episode 3 the one with Charles Dickens, she played Gwyneth the girl who opened the rift for the aliens and died well doing so. Naoko Mori (Tosh), was also in Doctor Who playing the same character she is here in Torchwood, the scientist that was dealing with the pig they thought was an alien in the first part of the, oh, so great wasn't it, 2 part Slitheen episodes. One thing I didn't like in the pilot was Owen using the alien cologne on people, taking away consent, I honestly feel like it was rape, because their was no consent involved with alien things being used on them. Timeline wise Torchwood season 1 aired, then season 3 of Doctor Who which didn't really have to much spoilers for Torchwood, then it was season 2 of Torchwood, then season 4 of Doctor Who, which is where the most spoilers come into play for Torchwood, then a couple of specials which I believe are still considered season 4 of Doctor Who, but I'm not sure, then season 3 of Torchwood, then season 4 of Torchwood doesn't really matter timeline wise, as it's not really too connected with Doctor Who.

I thought Torchwood s1 aired before series 3 of Doctor Who, it at least ends before the end of series 3 of Doctor Who chronologically. Also I agree, season 3 of Torchwood is great.
