I've always said that while season 4 doesn't manage to live up to the joke-a-minute standard that the earlier seasons do, the writing is still extremely clever, and probably no episode better shows that than the reveal in this episode, plus there are a lot of jokes you miss the first go around that you can only see on a rewatch like Maebe being the shaman. Season 4 is still extremely well written, and for its all faults, I'm always willing to give a show more leeway when it tries something unique like this season does with the character-themed episodes rather than a traditional linear story. I think it's very underappreciated.
