It seems appropriate to watch that Hopper monologue on the 4th of July since it's very much on theme with the movie Born on the Fourth of July. I love the inclusion of black widow spiders because as someone who was a kid in the 80s, I think we were weirdly afraid/obsessed with the concept of black widows. Or maybe it was just the kids in my neighborhood, but it definitely continues the 80s nostalgia vibe for me. Back to costuming significance, if you Google the film Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael, you'll see that Robin is definitely being styled after Winona Ryder's character, even down to having to awkwardly wear something pink and girly. Also, younger CGI Millie Bobbie Brown looks weirdly like Dewey from Malcolm or Brick from The Middle. Moment of TMI: when I was a tween/teen, I totally had a crush on Paul Reiser. This show made me realize he is only four years younger than my parents which skeeved me out almost as much as realizing Patrick Swayze was the same age as my parents and that my friends and I spent a good amount of time as a 10 or 11 year olds pausing Dirty Dancing to see his butt profile. Anyhoo, great reaction as per usual. See you in the next one!

This season has been great. In episode 3 you said you didn't remember when Owens(Paul Reiser) was in the show before, I don't know if you know by now, but he was in season 2, he was the one they were taking Will to for all of his tests, I like Owens because when he was introduced in season 2, I thought he was going to turn out to be as bad as all the other scientists, but he actually really wanted to help Will and he ended up giving Eleven her new identity as Jane Hopper so she could be free, he was also briefly in season 3 in the finale, showing up to help everyone after everything was done. Episode 4 was the best episode Stranger Things has done yet, in this already great season, Sadie SInk was fantastic in the episode, also apparently I have to change my favorite character list around based on how worried I was that Max was going to die. Also, that shootout scene was a one-take. This episode was also great, that speech from Hopper was fantastic, I also loved that whole Murray karate scene, it definitely made it seem like he was going to fail, then nope, he's actually good at karate and took out Yuri. I was waiting since season 2 when they implied that Brenner was still alive to see him on the show again, not going to lie based on how much I liked Owens, I was a little disappointed that he surprised Elle with Brenner, it felt like it was a little bit of a betrayal, I know he's doesn't know how else to help Elle, but it still felt a little like a betrayal. Also, it was kind of creepy seeing Jason just come at Eddie through the water so fast like that, anyway, Great reaction, I'm looking forward to the next one and Happy Anniversary.
