Confusion all around 😂 yep its all intended and every episode is necessary. Its not filler. This is the beginning of a new arc, with the introduction to the twin sister, Shion. Higurashi is structured into four question arcs and then the answer arcs. The Question arcs resets everything and starts "a new story" with new questions and mysteries for that arc.. but they also carry clues to the truth of the bigger picture. The answer arcs then fully reveal the truth to everything. By having this unique structure of having all the Question arcs first before the Answers, it actively encourages the audience to solve the mystery yourself first before the show decides to show its cards. It will all start making sense once you reach those answer arcs. But watching these episodes once a month is a problem with keeping up with the story tbh. Hopefully some day it can become a weekly reaction when you's do the polls again. At this point, all you can do is go crazy linking things together to try and understand it all.
