This season does feel a bit rushed. The show runners and writers wanted a 10 episode season but were asked to make it in 6. They actually wanted to include both Anna's story (with her wife and daughter) as well as Prax but that had to be cut unfortunately. I think you would love the books (independent of the differences). You will love reading about your beloved characters and will recognize so much of what happens. One interesting point is that the actor Dom Tipper put in that scream unscripted and shocked Steven Strait as he was sitting next to her during the scene. It was so emotional. And her speech at the end talks about that it doesn't matter if you never know how you helped someone so no, Naomi doesn't know he got off. (and did you catch he called himself Filip Nagata?). The story on Laconia only held 5 minutes at the beginning of each episode and IMHO is meant as almost a teaser about what the next series would be all about (and it would be AMAZING!!) There has been discussion of how to tell the rest of the story of the last three books so I am hopeful it will somehow happen but it won't be right away that's for sure. The Laconia arc is one of the contentious things about S6 cause it did feel a bit rushed however it’s such a big reveal because it makes clear Marco was always a distraction for Mars and Earth while he successfully fulfilled his own goals on Laconia without anyone noticing. His speech to Cara was telling that he’s a man ultra patriotic to mats ideology but also thinks he’s the chosen protector of mankind…Marco and everyone else is small potato’s yo one Winston Duarte. There books come after this so know that proto tech is being used to change ship technology and that these dogs that woke up when proto was brought to the planet (S4) and have an ability that successfully does what Mars tried to do with it h the Belter children. You also have a scientist without the capacity to feel empathy. That is NOT a great combination and things POP OFF in the last trilogy and ain’t nobody got a budget for it that would make it look like it needs to. Slight spoiler but important for that character; Naomi never knows her son lives. She has to live it’s the fact that she thinks she killed him the rest of her life which makes her speech ever more poignant. Naomi is also the first person to realize the entities capability and how to contain the mass in the ring transits which creates a job market for the Belters. Fans of Naomi, know she is THE heroine of the series and her actions thought out are far reaching considering she hides from leadership. She’s also more evidentially traumatized in the book from Marco’s mindfuckery. I would just start with book 4 or 5 as everything before is great but at this point not necessary imho though def read em it’ll just be disorientating as you’re mostly in Holden’s head. Lastly, If you do jump in the books J you better be in my inbox lol
