Honestly, watching your reaction to this episode has been better for me than watching this episode alone. I really appreciate your reaction to it because whilst there were funny parts with the dean I just found this episode so underwhelming for the reasons you said. You can see that the actors are trying but they seem worn out as well. The Freaky Friday stuff has always exhausted me in the episode but it was fun experiencing you two reacting with it. That being said though, I actually like next episode (not as love as I loved the puppet episode) but it's been seen in a positive light by many.

Wanted to add that this episode was written by Jim Rash (The Dean). I love Britta and Troy, but not as a couple, so I appreciate that Rash ended the relationship. The next episode is actually good. It's written by people that worked with Harmon in previous seasons, and it's based on some of the ideas he wanted to do for season 4. You kinda get some of that sharp writing that has been sorely missed, but at the end of the day, this amazing show needs his amazing creator back.

I find it interesting that people seem to like the next episode so much. It's my least favorite of the whole show LOL. Don't let my negativity affect your enjoyment though... I'm just a big cynical baby. For this one... I love the idea of the body swaps, but as you said, the execution just wasn't really there. I think both Donald Glover and Danny Pudi do great work with their own characters, but it really felt to me that they were trying to be the season 1 versions of each other. Abed's Troy felt like the Football loving, ego-maniacal, popular Troy. Troy's Abed was a little better, but still a little too robotic imo. I think they've both grown as people and these were imitations of the characters without that growth. That being said, we do find out that they were faking it... so it's not actually the actor's doing the imitations, but the characters in the show. So maybe they weren't meant to be perfect imitations. Still, they did the body swap for so much of the episode without telling us it wasn't real, that eventually I just got bored with the failed attempts to act like each other. Dean, however, nailed Jeff... and Annie getting turned on by him was hilarious.

I'll be interested to know next episode why you feel that way. I actually enjoy it but maybe that's because I'm holding it up against the rest of season 4 and not the rest of the show

This was the worst break up story I have ever seen and I know Britta is the "worst" but even she didn't deserve that and she was nothing but respectful and understanding throughout their 1 year relationship so to break up with her like that was horrible, other than that Freaky Friday thing didn't work for me at all.

I loved their episode, and I kinda do agree with a lot of people that this was a crappy breakup on Britta's end. I kind of think they were trying to show that Troy hasn't really had to deal with something like this, and might not be mature enough needing help from Abed to push through, or just him running away from the issue. I do believe this would have worked better in season 2 from a plot point though I don't hate it here.

Had to leave a comment after rewatching this 8 months later (and a few months after RTR finished the series) to say that I'll never forgive the season 4 writers of 'Community' for completely squandering something that was carefully, beautifully, built up since at least season 2... Talking about Troy and Britta's relationship. They just for real didn't know what to do with it, and that relationship had so much potential. What a waste. I'm glad they had the self awareness to end it before it got painfully worse.
