I'm going to take a guess before I watch this episode that y'all won't like it. Let's see if I'm right.

Yup, I was right. The changnesia plot is one of the most disliked plots in the entirety of Community. In season 6 they actually make a joke about how Chang wasn't well utilized after the first season. But everyone loved working with Ken Jeong, so they didn't want to get rid of him. At least Troy was great as usual, definitely the best part of the episode. I'm going to leave one more comment with some spoilers, so don't read that one if you don't want, but it's a spoiler that will help you set your expectations. I agree with your reaction though. I think the next two episodes, especially episode 8 are a bit better.

So, spoiler comment. Not an unexpected spoiler, not something that will ruin the show for you by any means, but a spoiler nonetheless. Chang is working with City College. But it's only mentioned once, maybe twice after this and then is abandoned like a dumpster baby.

I think that it's not so much a spoiler because you actually see Chang in the vents above the dean of City College laughing at the end part of Season Three but you might want to be careful. I know that I might a hypocrite saying this but I'm trying to be careful myself. But yes, that was hinted at. I also feel that Chang is used slightly better in Season 5 and Season 6 especially in the episode that has Jason Mantzoukas in. (hopefully not a spoiler because he's pretty much used in every show)

One of Chevy's biggest issues besides insane work hours into the night while being older and having a family was how racist his lines could be (Dan Harmon may not be involved this season but that was a problem he had with him) and they continued it here. He didn't like how some of the lines could just be straight racist without more humor, but what's sad is without knowing this a lot of audience think its Chase putting it in there/addlibbing which is not the case. I feel for Chase and love him! And people are posting spoilery things so if a comment looks like it's leading that way I would just stop reading and not highlight (my recommendation). But yeah I wasn't too much of a fan of this episode either, but had its moments. Definitely a dive in comedy though
