This episode was honestly perfect in my opinion. The fact that Morty almost had a perfect life with a girlfriend only for it to be ruined by Jerry’s (as well his own) stupidity is honestly the most heartbreaking thing from the show yet. Seriously though. Jerry ruins everything.

Yep, this is tied with the Story Train episode for my favorite of the season, and one of the best of the series. I mentioned after the heist episode that while Rick was awful and petty on a planetary scale, it didn't even come close to how bad he would get. Welp, here we get multi-dimensionally petty Rick, along with a continuation of Season 4's recurring meta motif of "hey, fuck you, it's really hard to write this shit sometimes." Fun fact: that entire silent montage sequence with the unnamed girlfriend was not in the original script. The episode even into its early animatic phase was coming up short, so the director for the episode added it in to fill the time. Which sounds insane, because that entire bit is what elevates the whole story for me. And I know people are quick to shit on Jerry for ruining that relationship, but, nah, that is 1,000% on Morty and his reluctance to hit a respawn point at any time after the relationship started. Or, fine, maybe 998% on Morty and 2% on Jerry for pressing a random button in a house shared with an evil sci-fi genius.

Man I'm, always someone who wants some kind of continuity in my shows, and always wanted that girl who he had a relationship and saw him jump into the vat would come back someday.

OMG This was an Amazing Episode, Rick and his Pettiness was unreal and the episode was beautifully crafted, and in my opinion The Vat Of Acid Barrel was a clever idea and Rick's preparation game was on point. Rick teaching Morty a lesson by such extreme methods were brilliant to see and I loved how he invented this device just to shut Morty up and teach him a lesson so he won't question him in the future adventures, and I have to say I'm with Rick on this one because Morty has been getting cocky lately and he needed this reality check. I loved Morty's montage with it's many wild segments but my highlight was where he prolonged his relationship with his "Girlfriend" and survived a horrific ordeal just to have it ruined by Jerry accidentally🤣🤣🤣Can't wait for the next one.
