So geeked out for this one. As an original recipe Law and Order devotee, this has so many spot on details. The opening where the janitors discover the "body". The opening zinger. The Jerry Orbach detective in a leather trench and his partner in a suit. The interrogation scene. The wonderful sidewalk hotdog scene. Too many little things to count. My MVP is Shirley, because Yvette Nicole Brown NAILS the delivery of S. Epatha Merkerson the longest running cast member of L&O at 391 episodes. Fun fact, the "coroner" examining the yam was played by the actual Law and Order coroner actress Leslie Hendrix. The StarBurns thing is because the actor, who was actually a writer for the show, wanted to be written off and concentrate on writing, and what a better episode to do it. This one and the Ken Burns one from earlier in the season are the two that felt most like they were made just for me. Love it.

I take back my comment about episode 15 being my favorite of the season. This is definitely my favorite, especially in regards to Alison Brie’s performance as Annie. She’s so dedicated in finding out the culprit so she can save her grade and the fact that she will stop at nothing to achieve her goal is both so over the top and hilarious yet so admirable. It just goes to show that if you come between Annie and her perfect grade, you will absolutely live to regret it. Todd found that out the hard way even though he wasn’t the true culprit. Her victory dance after getting him to confess had me in stitches. I don’t think I can add anything on Troy and Abed as fake cops. It was absolute perfection. Every scene, line and gesture from those two in the episode was comedy gold, especially Troy’s Miranda Rights that Shirley gave him to say to Todd. On a side note, I also like how Jeff decides to clear Todd’s name. It could almost be seen as a small redemption arc after how badly he and the study group treated him early on in the season. This episode was a masterpiece in my eyes and not just one of the best episodes in the show but also one of the best episodes in any sitcom in my opinion. Also, RIP Star-Burns.

Now you know why I was counting the hours till I got to watch you watch this episode -- it's like triple dessert for a TV junkie. Every detail was perfect. @Jojo77 already covered many of them excellently. The opening with the janitors always gets me laughing, because doesn't every Law & Order episode begin with two random people on the street talking about something unrelated to anything, and then suddenly they stumble on a body, and we smash-cut to the same location surrounded by crime-scene tape, with the two detectives wisecracking. And wherever the detectives go to question people at work, those people always answer while continuing whatever mindless task they were already doing -- Todd wheeling a library cart around; Neil moving around office files while talking about the sign-out book. Finally two items to do with credits: The opening titles looked and sounded like the ones for Law & Order (including the 4 principals walking happily down a corridor together), but if you listen to the music, it's actually the regular Community theme song, arranged in a new way. And the title of the episode (a salute to Law & Order creator Dick Wolf) is one they got past the NBC censors, "Basic Lupine Urology." Remembering what "lupine" means (having to do with wolves) and what urology means ... "lupine urology" = "Wolf, Dick."

Right now (and for many years) I've been studying stenography/court reporting and so I love anything in the legal drama field so I loved this episode in that regard but I do have to say that my favorite thing about this episode is how they managed to include so many of the side-characters like Starburns and Todd. I love the main study group and of course there's so much heart between them but the fact that they can showcase a lot of the minor characters reminds me how many smaller roles are very developed. Pop Pop!

I’ve been waiting for you guys to get to this one! It’s such a pitch perfect homage to Law & Order and cop shows in general. Nothing is wasted from the investigation to the courtroom. I love the interruption of Todd’s military uncle which was such a staple of Law & Order. Your response to the end with Starburns’s death was the correct one; Law & Order would often end seasons with a *bonkers* out of left-field cliffhanger that would have audiences confused. On a personal note I totally relate to the janitor because I once had an incredible dental hygienist like that!

OMG I loved everything about this brilliant episode and one of my favourite episodes so far. I have never seen a full Law & Order episode but I have seen a couple of them in passing and as background noise so I recognised the sound effect and the format but judging by your reaction this episodes attention to detail was spot on. My highlight scenes were Detective Abed and Troy questioning the suspects and the Final Court Room scene with Jeff and Annie, but I have to say the professor/Judge and Todds Military lawyers involvement was pure gold. Also Is the Character Star-Burns really dead or was that for this particular episode. Can't wait for the next one.

Such a perfect ode to Law and Order. Please react to the bloopers for this season. There are such good ones for the end of this episode when the dean is singing to Troy and Abed.

watching you guys totally geek out with this episode was great ! don't have much else to add but this is, for me, one of the best episodes in the series (without a doubt). everything was so well done, and it's one of those episodes that had me smiling literally the entire time.

After I read your comment, I went onto YouTube and watched the 20 min compilation video of Season 3 bloopers and they are hilarious. You Guys, RJ and JRabbit, should watch them after you finish the season whether or not you choose to react to them or not.
