Once again we see Abed's heart through him making that commercial. This episode is kind of weird to me but I really love the part where it all dawns on Annie when she says, If the Dean wants his part played by a Chinese man in a blond wig....you are crazy. (favorite line handsdown) I think that the documentary style really shows Abed as his best since it's a way of seeing through his POV and people most of the time don't really get or understand Abed.

One of my top 3 Jeffrey episodes. McHale losing it always scores.

almost every scene this episode had me dying. definitely one of my s3 favorites. so many really good moments but for me, all the scenes with Jeff as the Dean had to have been the funniest shit ever. also fun fact: the scene towards the end where the Dean is taking off all his clothes and throwing it into the fire, we see a glimpse of his underwear when he takes those off too. And "coincidentally"....it's actually the exact same pair that Jeff had when playing an extreme game of pool, in season 1's "Physical Education" LMAO

This is a great episode (and reaction) and doesn't need any further research to enjoy it -- it's clear the sort of out-of-control filmmaking, plus documentary about it, that they're showing. But in fact there's a specific situation that they're spoofing: the 1979 movie Apocalypse Now, that went way over budget and 8 months over schedule, with many huge problems including typhoons destroying all the sets and the star having a major heart attack... and then the documentary Hearts of Darkness that the director's wife shot and edited, showing all of that. It was referenced in dialogue in this episode, "Hearts of Darkness is way better than Apocalypse now." What we saw in the episode, even the dean's final breakdown, isn't any crazier then what was shown in that documentary. I find it remarkable that this episode even got made for a primetime viewing public! I'm sure NBC must have asked them what the hell they were thinking. But I love it.

Deans Break Down was hilarious and Yet again Abed was the MVP and I also loved the Cameos from Luis Guzmán and Jeff Garlin, can't wait for the next one.

*cut to the Dean grimacing while also taking a flash photo on his flip phone*

This is a favorite of mine. I love the super specific satires. There's a couple of other really great ones coming up this season. I almost want to advise some pre-viewing for certain episodes if you aren't familiar with the source material, but I don't want to spoil the genres in advance.
