Sometimes I forget how goddamn handsome Josh Holloway is, and I feel like I owe the universe an apology. But yes, if I could take them together, the two-part season 2 finale would be favorite episode of Community. But even separate, they both land firmly in the top 10, with the next one being slightly higher. In fact, it was based on the strength of this finale that the Russo Brothers were able to land directing Captain America: Winter Soldier, which eventually led to them directing the literal biggest movie in history with Endgame. So not too bad for a silly game of paintball. Something I think you might have missed: the stylized face card intros was meant to let you know who voted what when deciding Pierce's fate. Annie, the Queen of Hearts, was the one red card/holdout. The reveal that that's what they were doing in that flashback is maybe the best part of the episode for me. I keep saying it, but while the homages are brilliantly executed and the jokes are hilarious, it's the emotional core in the storytelling that really makes it all work.
