This is a very unusual episode, but I like it quite a bit despite never having seen My Dinner With Andre. It reminds me of Mixology Certification (Troy's birthday episode), in that it goes a bit more serious than usual for this show (or any other sitcom), but still works quite well. Also, Cougar Town is a real show - and in case you don't have a dozen other comments mentioning this already, right around this time, Cougar Town had Danny Pudi do a background cameo. You can find it pretty easily, just search for "Abed Cougar Town" on Youtube. (If you're up for it, might even be worth reacting to it as part of the next Community video.) Enjoyed the reaction as always, and looking forward to the end of the season - still some great ones coming.

This is in my personal top ten (if not top five) for Community, though I admit I love it more than most. Pulp Fiction and My Dinner with Andre are two of my all-time favorite movies, so when I first saw this, I was kind of waiting the whole episode for the punchline or big reveal. And then my heart broke a little bit when Abed said that he chose that homage because it was about an "unexpectedly enjoyable evening with a weird friend [Jeff's] been avoiding." More gushing: Danny Pudi is outstanding this episode. He manages to do a more-than-passable imitation of Andre Gregory, while making it clear enough from the beginning that the whole thing is a performance, and lets Abed slip through in a few small moments when Jeff overshares. And since I believe you also started the IT Crowd, this episode was directed by the incomparable Richard Ayoade, who needs to be in and/or create more things. That man is the most underappreciated gift England has ever given the world.
