Yeah the language will take some getting used to but this is one of the first brit shows I ever watched and made me fall in love with their type of humor. Subtitles will help. The characters take a minute to warm up to; thats the point. These powers relate to their flaws as people. I.E. Alicia uses men's sexual desire for her attractiveness but it's superficial and not love that she wants so her power is any man that touches her wants to have sex with her. Curtis is watching moments from the past and he can travel back in time. Simon feels alone and that no one sees him thus he can turn invisible ( those weren't his friends RJ :( And Kelli cares about what people think about her being from the hood as you say thus she can hear everyone's thoughts.
